PERFORMING CAREER WORKSHOP

This workshop is aimed at those performers who are just completing a Higher Education course in their chosen performing discipline. It’s purpose is to equip these students with a clear plan to take their first professional step in the performing arts industry within 6 months of achieving their qualification.

This could be as a performer working for a production company or as a self employed entertainer. It could also be in a position off stage or in a connected industry.

Current statistics show that only a small percentage of performers are in full time industry related employment within 6 months of completing their qualification. Compared to other subjects and industries this is a significantly low figure.

The purpose of this workshop is to increase the numbers of students taking up positions as a performer or in a connected industry so that everything they’ve been working for is used to it’s fullest potential.

The workshop can be run in the third or second year of the course and will last between 60 and 90 minutes.

Students will also be invited to continue their career dialogue with the workshop leader, as well as each other, in a private Facebook group for 6 months after the workshop, as this will help build the momentum and accountability for each participant.
